Holiday Inn
History:
In the year 1952, Kemmons Wilson a home builder founded Holiday Inn group of hotels to provide accommodation for travelers within USA. He opened the first hotel at 4941, Summer Avenue in Memphis. When Wilson made a road trip to Washington DC, he was upset with the poor quality of the roadside hotels he found there Holiday Inn was a name given to it by an architect called Eddie Bluestein as a joke.
Wilson’s Holiday Inn, of American grew fast and was family friendly, neat and readily accessible to the travelers. By the 1968, 1000th Holiday Inn was opened in Texas. In 1972,by June Wilson appeared on the cover of “Time Magazine”. At that time there were around 1400 Holiday Inn Hotels around the world.
Holiday Inn Hotel Company set foot in other related enterprises also. They are delta Queen, Media center nursing homes; Wilson also created Wilson World Hotels.
Wilson retired in 1979.In 1980; Holiday Inn began to lose its market due to the changing conditions of hotel business.
In 1988 Bass Brewers from UK purchased Holiday Inn International. The brand name “Holiday Inn” is still the property name of Holiday Inn group. Holiday Inn was the first hotel in introducing a frequent stay program.
It started in the year 1977 as Holiday Inn Inner Cycle and it was reorganized into Priority Club Rewards later.
In the year 2006, on march 17,Holiday Inn Hotels introduced NASCAR Busch Series Debut as the prime sponsor for No.29 RCR Chevrolet.
Holiday Inn Hotels offer a continental breakfast and a pack of free toiletries.Some of the items included free of cost are mouthwash,grooming things and lotion. Holiday Inn Hotels have become reliable hotels for a comfortable stay for a weary traveler and other businessmen.There is little doubt in that.
